What is Yamuna Body Rolling?

Yamuna Body Rolling is a form of self-massage and therapeutic exercise that uses specially designed balls to target and release tension in the body's muscles and connective tissues. It was created by Yamuna Zake, who is a yoga teacher and bodyworker.

The technique involves placing the balls on various parts of the body and using body weight and movement to roll over them, applying pressure and creating a deep massage effect. The balls are designed to be different sizes and densities to target different areas of the body.

The benefits of Yamuna Body Rolling include:

  • Release of muscle tension and tightness
  • Improved flexibility and range of motion
  • Increased circulation and lymphatic flow
  • Improved posture and alignment
  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Improved joint mobility
  • Enhanced body awareness and relaxation
  • Increased sense of well being

Yamuna Body Rolling can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or physical ability. It can be used as a stand-alone practice or as a complement to other forms of exercise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have preexisting conditions?
Body rolling is gentle compared to other workouts. If you have serious health issues, you may want to check with your doctor. However, after teaching hundreds of classes, I have never experienced a negative reaction other than soreness the next day as if you have had a tough workout.
How does this compare to yoga?
Many of the benefits derived from yoga are achieved through body rolling. We will include yoga poses as well as breathing exercises as the classes advance. Yoga and body rolling are complementary. In addition, a combination pilates and body rolling class will be offered as students advance.
How long is a class?
General class is one hour and 15 minutes. Workshops are three hours to three and a half hours.
Why does a search of your name show you as a privacy attorney and a jewelry designer?
Those are my other passions.
